Add a security warning that displays at login

In some situations, you may want to add a security warning to Windows NT that users will see before they log in. Doing so is an easy task, but it does require editing the registry.

To create a security warning, follow these steps:

1. Open the Registry Editor. (Go to Start | Run, and type regedt32.exe.)
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon.
3. Double-click the LegalNoticeCaption value.
4. Enter a caption in the Data field.
5. Double-click the LegalNoticeText value.
6. Enter a security warning in the Data field.
7. Close the Registry Editor, and restart the computer.

The next time you or a user logs in, Windows NT will display the security warning before letting you or the user log in.
